Saving Form Information using Adobe Reader

I have created a form in Foxit PhantomPDF Standard. While Foxit Reader is able to enter information into the fields and save the form, the same cannot be said for Adobe Reader, which is used by other users in my team. Information can be entered into the fields, but the form is unable to be saved with the data.

Can PhantomPDF Standard or Business be used to create a form which allows Adobe Reader to enter information into the fields AND save the form?

You may simply update your Adobe Reader to version XI and you'll be able to save the filled info.

BTW, In the past, to enable Adobe Reader to save a form, you need extend features from Acrobat. This feature is not directly a part of the PDF Format. Actually, it

Thank you for the reply. Previous versions of Adobe Reader are able to save form field information. Updating to Adobe XI is not an acceptable nor valid option in my case. Can PDF documents with interactive form fields be saved with Adobe Reader? If not, I will need to request a refund of my purchase (or contact PayPal and cancel it through them).

To enable Adobe Reader to save a form, you need extend features from Acrobat not PhantomPDF. This feature is not directly a part of the PDF Format. Actually, it is about money for Adobe. It is a proprietary format owned and controlled by Adobe. Foxit PhantomPDF or other PDF solution other than Adobe Acrobat, cannot give the extended rights to Adobe Reader. Since Adobe Reader XI, Adobe has changed the strategy that Adobe Reader XI could save the info that typed in the form which is created by Foxit PhantomPDF or other PDF solutions.

Hi Cherry, that is an incorrect statement. I can use older versions of Adobe Reader (9.x, 10.x) to fill in interactive forms AND save them, so long as the form was created an a version of Adobe Acrobat (at least version 8.x or later).

I cannot force users to upgrade their versions of Adobe Reader just to suit Foxit.

How do I obtain a refund for my purchase of Foxit PhantomPDF?

In Acrobat, there's an option "Enable Usage Rights in Adobe Reader" under "Advanced" menu. You need to click on it to enable Adobe Reader to save a form. For your purchase, you may email to [email protected] for more info. Thank you.

Yes, I know that feature exists in Adobe Acrobat. Why does it not exist in Foxit PhantomPDF? Will it be available in a future version of PhantomPDF?

I would prefer not to use Adobe Acrobat, but there is no choice.

Actually there's no need to add that feature in Foxit PhantomPDF. Adobe Acrobat used to make that limitation in order to gain more buyers of Acrobat, but they have removed this limitation now, that's why you could save the form with filled info with Adobe Reader XI now.
