  • Dynamic stamp with document file name

    Hi,

    right now we have a pilot project running in our company to change our PDF software from Adobe to FoxIT PhantomPDF Business. Now one of the things I'm running into is that in Adobe we have a dynamic stamp that contains the document file name in the stamp.

    This runs with the following custom calculation script in the text field form of the dynamic stamp:

    firstWord = event.source.source.documentFileName.split(".");
    event.value=firstWord[0];

    Unfortunately this seems to be Adobe Javascript and is not transferable to PhantomPDF.

    Is there a solution to this problem so we can maintain our stamp? This has quite a big impact on our archiving process if everything has to be done by hand.

    Thank you for your support.

    Hi William,

    I'm wondering how the the dynamic stamp works with document file name. Could you please kindly send us an example PDF document with the mentioned calculation script so we could better know this request and advise? Thank you.

    If it is inconvenient to upload the example PDF document here, please email it to [email protected]. Thank you.

      Hi Cherry,

      I've uploaded the stamp file itself. As you can see when you open this it contains a text field form with a custom calculation script.
      When importing this file as a Stamp in Adobe Acrobat it uses this calculation script to add the filename to the stamp.

      Unfortunately I think this script uses Adobe Javascript. Since I'm not a Javascript programmer I'm wondering if the same can be achieved within FoxIT PhantomPDF Business with normal Javascript.

      If you need more information please let me know.

        Hi WHE,

        After I imported the stamp in Adobe, I saw an error "An internal error occurred." when I tried to add this newly created stamp. What did I do wrong?
        Here's what I did: I click on the "Stamp" icon, then "Custom Stamps"->"Create Custom Stamp" then browse and select the attached file you provided then choose a category and give the stamp a name.

        Could you please kindly let us know how to check if it script works? Please send us the instruction so I could better check if Foxit PhantomPDF supports it as well and forward it to PM team if necessary. Thank you.

          Hi Cherry,

          you can copy/paste the file into a custom stamp folder located at this hidden folder.

          C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\9. 0\Stamps

          It should open up a new stamp collection in Adobe Reader/Pro.

          What I did at first. Creating a custom stamp so Adobe makes this custom stamp folder and then copy/past the file into that directory. Restart Adobe and now this new stamp should be available under the stamps section.

          Please let me know if you still have issues.

          Thank you for your support.
