  • Feature how to export (backup) Foxit PhantomPDF profile (personalised settings)

I would like to export (backup) my Foxit PhantomPDF profile (especially customized toolbar settings) for use on my 2 other computers. Is it possible? How to do it ? Thanks for help in advance.

    Hi cactus,

You may open Registry Editor by input regedit.exe in Windows Start Search line, then find 'Foxit PhantomPDF 5.0' folder->right-click on it and choose 'Export'. There will be a .reg file generated. Then copy the .reg file to your 2 other computers, double-click on the .reg file to import.

Thank you very much - it worked well for me. But still it would be nicer having export / import feature somewhere in Foxit PhantomPDF menu ...

Yes, it worked for me to create a .reg file from following location : HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Foxit Software\Foxit PhantomPDF 5.0.

But today I had to completely reinstall my PhantomPDF (Business edition) and after that I tried to restore my personalized preferences and - most important -> my Favorite Toolbar (with 65 icons !!!!! in customized order) - according to instructions from above.

Unfortunately double clicking on the .reg file didn`t restore my toolbar even I got a message that import was successful.
Did I make any mistake ?

I did the full reinstall last time.... But even that - there should be an option to save user settings/profile (as in internet browsers).
But the REAL SHAME of you Foxit is - that even a small update wipes out all my settings (esp. Favorite Toolbar)!

Updates are quite frequent and have to be installed because of security reasons - so I end up spending each time 1,5 hours to rearrange Favorite Toolbar the way I need it.
I am already sick of it !

If there is any WORKING solution to avoid this stupid extra work - just tell me. Will be very grateful !

Would you please reply clearly to my question - is there any way to export (backup) Foxit PhantomPDF profile (personalised settings) or not ? It is rather important feature (esp. Favorite toolbar) !

            Hi cactus,

Hmm...try creating a .reg file of the following registry location:

            HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Foxit Software\Foxit PhantomPDF 5.0

I believe that you will find that your Favorite Toolbar settings are stored in the registry tree under the above location, and more specifically under:

            HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Foxit Software\Foxit PhantomPDF 5.0\EmbeddingWindows\Toolbars\Toolbar\Favorite

Thus the above path within the registry would be what you want to back up since the above path is specifically for your Favorite Toolbar settings.

            Best regards,

            --MEM-TEK

Thank you MEM-TEK . YOUR ADVICE WORKED VERY WELL when I backed up the key :
              HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Foxit Software\Foxit PhantomPDF 5.0
              .

FYI - The second registry key mentioned by you is a little different in my computer :
              HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Foxit Software\Foxit PhantomPDF 5.0\Windows\Toolbars\TabbedToolbar\Favorite .
Exporting that key and than applying it after Foxit PhantomPDF Business update doesn`t revert Favorite Toolbar to my custom settings.
