crash Help Needed - Internet Explorer Error 0x80040201

I just installed Foxit Reader today on 32 bit VISTA, Firefox, Internet Explorer 8.0. I deleted Acrobat Reader 10 using Revo Uninstaller. I am having problems with IE8 and a cloud type program I use (Taxwise ONLINE [TWO] by CCH Small Business Systems). TWO apparently creates a ".ashx" file that is converted to .pdf.

I saw the thread in FAQ, to register Foxit Reader OCX. I did that, and got an error message that the OCX failed to load, error 0x80040201.

Now I am stuck. Thanks in advance.

Hi Lewis,

Thanks for the post. How the situation running now? Please try to uninstall and reinstall and try again. During the installing process, please make sure the option for "display pdf in browser" is checked.

I reinstalled Foxit Reader per your suggestion, with the "display pdf in browser" option selected during installation. The first time I used IE8 and selected a .pdf file, IE8 asked me to if I wanted to install Foxit OCX, and I said yes.

IE8 now works with normal .pdf files (thank you), BUT ..... the Taxwise Online (TWO) software that ONLY SUPPORTS IE,
does not seem to work.

TWO creates an .ashx file, that somehow turns into a .pdf read only file. When I press the button to create the (.ashx and .pdf file) I get a security message warning: "Do you want to open or save this file: FoxitReaderOCX Control. Attempts to save or open are unsuccessful. I did not attempt to REGISTER the OCX control with this installation.

I'm stuck again.

Please go to Start->command->input cmd->then paste below commandline to register it.
regsvr32.exe "C:\Program Files\Foxit Software\Foxit Reader\plugins\FoxitReaderOCX.ocx"

It will pop up a message said that installed successfully.
If you still fail to open it, would you mind making a screenshot of the error message indicated when you try to open it?Thank you.
