Feedback Drawing tools

Since the last update I have found that the line tool switches itself off after every line I draw. I used to click on a commenting or drawing tool and could read an entire document, underlining or otherwise marking what I wanted without having to go up to the toolbar (which is now ribbon) to click on the tool again. Is there any way to keep a tool switched on?
