  • Guys,

You may install version 7.2.8 back then switch to classic mode if you'd like: http://cdn01.foxitsoftware.com/pub/f..._enu_Setup.exe

    • Just downgraded from 7.3 to 7.2 and disabled auto update.

      • Registered exclusively to say that you don't get to force the ribbon on me. Downgraded to 7.2 immediately. Also, Foxit as a PDF viewer is absolutely not irreplaceable - by all means, do keep pushing it...

        • Where can I find the latest version of FoxitReader with option to switch from ribbon to classic mode?

I just updated today, and can not stand that ugly ribbon, grrr! Unfortunatelly, I did not save the old installer...

              • Took the liberty of test installing Foxit Reader v8.0 to check for the Classic Toolbar for everyone else's benefit. Nope, sorry. Still not there.

                • Did a test install. Foxit Reader 8.0 does not have the Classic Toolbar either.

                  • One more unhappy customer is here. I've been using Foxit reader for years and now i'm going to uninstall it. The ribbon is horrible, honestly. Don't look at MS Office - there are plenty of programs providing the classic menu look for it. Foxit doesn't have any.

                    • Foxit, please restore the classic toolbar as soon as possible. This latest update is extremely disappointing and I too shall revert to the previous version, taking care to switch OFF updates.

Unfortunately, given Reader's v7 vulnerabilities (https://www.foxitsoftware.com/suppor...-bulletins.php), there little option to upgrading or ditching it altogether.

                        • Well, I checked back after several months with hopes for a new resolution from Foxit, and now I'm disappointed to see that we have instead been swept out into the wilderness by Foxit. Thank you, AlexF, for the link to new vulnerabilities that make it unwise to continue using the older version that has a superior interface. Thanks also to others who have suggested viable alternatives with uncluttered and workable interfaces that make workflow reasonable. I will be dumping Foxit and looking into Sumatra and Tracker Software options. Foxit was terrific while it lasted.

                          • You can mark me down as another long time Foxit user who will be downgrading while I look for an alternative PDF reader for myself and the over a dozen other computers that I maintain. The ribbon breaks pretty much every rule of usability, ergonomics, and design and has been horrible since the day MS introduced it. No interface designer with a shred of common sense uses it and it is very disappointing that Foxit has chosen to implement it in their otherwise excellent application.

On the first page a Foxit representative said that maintaining both interface options was becoming too demanding on of a workload, something I can understand being a programmer, but, when presented with this problem, the obvious solution is not dropping support for the toolbar option, the obvious answer is to stop maintaining the horrendously bloated and non-intuitive ribbon.

Please come to your senses and reverse your position on what should have been a no brainer of a decision.

                            • This is just another "me too" post.
I have completely stopped using Foxit Reader since that horrible ribbon interface has been implemented without the possibility to return to the old interface. I had been using Foxit for many years before, but I have switched to an alternative (SumatraPDF - unbelievable fast!) some months ago. Every now and then I look into this thread to check if the old interface has been reintroduced, but I doubt it will ever happen...

                              • Any news from the Foxit team about this? It's been a while and this has become the most replied topic of the forum, and the most liked one too. Please, listen to your users. Or ex users.
