Finally i removed one-toolbar optioned Foxit Reader and setup another free pdf reader. The new one is awesome; simple to use and has more space of reading, no ribbon, no cloud, no other detailed options. It is just like earlier Foxit versions... I have doubts whether i setup Foxit again. Thanks...

As others have chosen Foxit Phantom over other options for various reasons, I too have chosen to pay for Foxit Phantom for a specific reason - we could hide all tool bars, including the navigation bar, and the Menu Bar with function keys. The result was that we only would have the window frame and as minimal a UI possible; frameless would be even better. This was great for having several documents open at the same time. After trying all the PDF readers/editors I could find, Foxit was the only one -- and now that's gone.

Is anyone else interested in this minimalism of the "Classic Toolbar?"

Must we be stuck forever with version 7.2.8 to have the minimal UI functionality?

Does anyone have a viable solution -- perhaps an alternative reader/editor?

The ribbon mode is frustrating. Having all those buttons, large and small, cluttering the interface and taking space from the documents is nonsense. Even more so considering that I won't use most of them and that the ones I use are in other tabs.
I'm not absolutely against the use of ribbon UI, but in a PDF reader it is useless. I would like to be able to take the few functions I use and put them in a small toolbar, that doens't take screen space from the document I'm using. Really, what's more important to the user: a nice (?) toolbar or the document that's open? What's better, giving the user a fixed UI or one that he can customize according to the way he uses the software?
And forcing the ribbon also doesn't make sense from a business standpoint. Why do you think people choose Foxit Reader over Adobe's? It's not because Foxit is more well known, it's not because it's easier to use. I, for one, started using Foxit because Adobe's reader was too cumbersome to use, but now it's Foxit that is bloating.
And now we have to "get used" to it. And we are also supposed to "find ribbon toolbar is way much better than the classic toolbar just like those users who likes Ribbon toolbar mode". Really? Is that what we are getting from the complaints? We are using it wrong? We can't appreciate all the hard work done?
From what I've seen here i have no hope the issue will be solved. Actually, I doubt they will even acknowledge there is an issue with the interface.
All of this makes me sad, for I have used and liked the software for a long time. I guess I'll have to go searching for a new PDF reader, but until the at least I can use an older version.

By the way, you should update your technical FAQ, because your software no longer has two toolbar modes.

Just checking back to see if there is any news about supporting the classic toolbar again. For now, I've stopped updating all versions of Foxit. The ribbon UI is a piece of sh*t whether it is part of MS Office or any other software product.

NO!! This is not about "getting used to it". Yes, different people prefer different styles but this is not just about disliking the look of it. The entire workflow has been changed and complicated (ie. Save As has added extra and unnecessary mouse clicks) and users DO NOT like being confused. The first rule of UI design is to streamline and simplify processes for the user and the latest updates and move to the ribbon interface definitely DOES NOT follow that rule.

Add another user to the growing list of people jumping ship. I'm sure your competitors appreciate your decision even if your users don't.

Many choices and options available is one of those things I describe good software - i will also miss the option to run the program in classic mode

I need a Classic Toolbar. "Getting Used" to the ribbon is impossible; it's unusable.

I originally wrote of my annoyance on the 22nd Jan 2016, and here we are on the last day of March where it appears to be a given, the Classic toolbar is gone forever..
    I just don't get it...
Granted you'll find a few sad people who like a/the Ribbon Toolbar, but the contributions to this thread mirror elsewhere the general dislike by a large number of computer user of the Ribbon tool bar concept.
Yet the coders continue to be fooled into thinking, as the support staff try to fool us into thinking... "Once you get used to it, you'll find ribbon toolbar is way much better than the classic toolbar". Yet all the feedback evidence seems to show it is massively *not* the case.

The clutter, the clunkiness of a ribbon toolbar is never going to be better than a classic, sleek, easy to use and view toolbar whatever corporate slant/speak you put on it.

I also joined to express my displeasure with the stupid ribbon.

The ribbon was just a cluttered mess. All those tiny icons! Putting dozens of little buttons across multiple tabs is insanity. Who uses all those things on a daily basis? There was no logical order to them as far as I could tell. More is not always better, and this is a prime example. I think there were buttons just for the marketing team to say "we have more items than anyone else".

Adding one click to a menu might not seem like much, but those add up over the course of a day, week and year. Ten or twenty extra clicks a day could be 30,000 extra steps and maybe up to 2500 extra hours a year of lost time. (20*5)*300=30,000. (30000*5 seconds)/60=2500. Even at a very conservative one second per extra click it adds up.

I had the classic toolbar narrowed down to probably less than 10 commands that I used all the time. It saved screen space, and it made it quick and easy to pick the item I wanted. My custom list of commands may not have been the same things everyone else used (but I suspect they are the most common ones) but that was the beauty of the way it was, I could make it work for my needs and job requirements.

I uninstalled and I am looking for a program that allows me to have a simple, clean, user interface. I really liked Foxit, and I am sorry to see it go.

Me too. I was happy I found Foxit because it seemed they didn't abandon their productive users, but this move shows they'd rather glom onto the latest trend without actually researching whether it makes the product better. Please re-instate the classic toolbar.

Another one. Just upgraded. Just uninstalled. Couldn't remove the ribbon. Can't go back to previous version. I'll have to try Sumatra too. So long old friend. :-(

I started using foxit reader cause it was fast to load and the UI was nice and simple.
Now I don't see why every software company feels compelled to change the UI to something that is far more a hindrance, and wastes so much screen real estate for everything. I'm going to stick with the old foxit reader 7.2.8.1124 version or find another pdf reader. Can people seriously not read now days and need little icons for everything?
