Microsoft itself is abandoning ribbon in the latest Outlook (at least on macOS).

There's only ribbon toolbar and no classic toolbar mode since version 7.3.You may refer to this article for why Foxit changed from the classic UI to the ribbon UI:

Sorry, the previous market research finds that most people prefer the Ribbon mode, so we do not have plan to recover the Classic mode now, but if you have any good ideas about Ribbon, please let us know, we will try our best to make Ribbon better.

Alright, Foxit, Microsoft has finally admitted that the ribbon was a mistake and is returning to normal toolbars... I mean their new totally-not-a-toolbar 'simplified ribbon' that looks and acts exactly like a toolbar. Can we expect Foxit to follow suit and abandon this embarrassment of UI design?

Sorry to say that classic toolbar is no longer available in version 7.3 and above, and we don't have the plan to bring it back. Sorry again for the inconvenience.

i registered just to bump this.

(and telling people to use a version years out of date is not a valid solution, that opens up all sorts of potential security issues. it's far easier to just find something else. goodbye, sadly it's back to adobe for now until i find an alternative as good as this used to be)
