Feature Text Insertion For Dummies

What I am asking is probably second nature to users of this type of program. I had a downloaded PDF birthday card which I wanted to open in Foxit Reader since the card consisted of a picture with little text except "Have A Happy Birthday." Not able to insert "Belated" into the line, I ended up moving the file to clipboard and reopening it in Microsoft Publisher. Every time I tried to insert into Foxit, it opened up another page. How do you do this in Foxit Reader?
