  • Bug Update error in Windows 8

Hello, I am running Foxit Reader 5.4.4.1128 in Windows 8 on my personal PC. Every single time I open the program I get this error message:
    C:\Users\[Me]\AppData\Local\Temp\Foxit Updater.exe

Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the file.

The same error shows up whenever I select 'Check for Updates'. The error even shows up when I go to C:\Users\[Me]\AppData\Local\Temp\ and run Foxit Updater.exe as an Administrator.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Hi ColeMitchell, Please uninstall your existing version of Foxit Reader then download a new installer of Foxit Reader 6.0 and see if the issue persists. Thank you in advance.

The problem persists even with Foxit Reader 6.1.2.12, on Windows 8.
The installer looks for a file "Foxit Reader Updater.exe", while there exists only "Foxit Updater.exe" - but probably that's not the only problem.
However, disabling automatic updates hides the message.

          Hi Dudenas,

May I know what is your anti-software? What about the result if you try to change the setting to allow the operation form Foxit Updater?

Hi ColeMitchell, I had the same problem and I've found a workaround. Just go to File->Preferences->Updater and select the option "Do not download..."
