Foxit Reader 6 very slow to open with redirected AppData

We use have our users' appdata folders redirected to the network server, using Windows Server's folder redirection feature, in order to speed up login times. With Foxit Enterprise Reader 5 this has caused no issues, and it opens in under 5 seconds. However when I tested Foxit Reader 6, I found that it takes 30 seconds to open with a wifi connection, 20 seconds to open with a wired connection. On the few accounts without appdata redirected, Foxit Reader 6 also opens quickly.

From looking at what files Foxit Reader is accessing while it loads, it looks as if this may be down to the time taken to load files like the skins from the appdata directory. One solution might be if we could disable loading of skins, as we do not need that feature.

I am currently looking at other PDF readers we could use instead, because I cannot upgrade to Foxit Reader 6 with this problem.

Please open Foxit Reader->go under 'File'->'Change Toolbar Mode'->'Classic Toolbar Mode' and see if the switch helps. Thank you.

I have classic toolbar mode set by default (by setting the registry value), so that is the mode under which I originally saw the issue. I have checked whether changing back to ribbon mode made a difference, but it appears not.

i have the same problem. The start takes more than 20 seconds. This is horrible.

Please open Foxit Reader->then go under 'File'->'Preferences'->'General'->untick 'Show Start Page' and 'Show Advertisement' and see if this setting helps.

No good here either, I'm afraid. We have show start page unticked already. The 'Show Advertisement' setting does not seem to be there in version 6.

i tried Version 6.12.224 and with this version the startproblem is gone. Not perfect, but much better.

Sorry for the late response: I finally got a chance to recheck this.

I agree with Foxit Enterprise Reader 612.1224 the problem is gone. Start up times are now a couple of seconds again. Thank you to the Foxit developers and to salomon for letting me know.
