  • Foxit Reader Must Be Uninstalled in Safe Mode!

I run Foxit Reader on Windows 8 Pro x64.

I attempted to update my existing version of Foxit Reader to 6.1.2.1224. During this process, the installer uninstalls the pre-existing version of Foxit Reader.

The installer was unable to proceed because it lacked permission to access a number of files, even though I performed the install in my Administrator account.

In fact, I was not able to delete or change any of these files, even though I am an Administrator, and I couldn't even change ownership of the files. Ultimately, I had to restart into Safe Mode to remove the pre-existing version of Foxit Reader.

Why does Foxit Reader install files that even an Administrator cannot remove, and will I need to restart in Safe Mode to update Foxit Reader going forward?

    Hi BullgogX,

Could you please let us know which files prevent you from removing as an administrator?

BTW, for now, the latest version of Foxit Reader is 6.1.2.
