  • Bug 6.1.2.x Only------ Last Viewed/Activated Tabs Restored by Last Session Restore

In the 'History' section of the Preferences, even if the options are checked off, Foxit does not restore the last session. I suspect this is because it remembers the session after the tabs are closed. You cannot exit Foxit Reader without closing all the tabs (when you 'X' out Foxit Reader, it either asks you to close one or all tabs, and if you close all tabs then re-open Foxit Reader, it just re-opens with none of the previous documents that were closed). In the 'Documents' section of the Preferences, even if you uncheck the prompt messaging before closing all tabs, Foxit Reader still automatically closes all tabs on exit, and when you re-open Foxit Reader, it doesn't restore any of the previous documents.

    Hi Daigo,

I guess the setting might not be written into the registry. Please right-click on Foxit Reader icon at the desktop then choose 'Run as administrator' then make the setting and try again. Please let us know if it helps.

Actually, Foxit reader 6.1.2 cannot reopen all of the pdf files that were opened previously. From what I have checked, Foxit reader just remembers the PDF documents (tabs) which has been clicked on last time. For example, if we opened 10 tabs (files) and then we closed all 10 tabs with checked restore last session option, Foxit reader will reopen ten tabs after starting. However, if users just click on 4 of 10 tabs to read these documents, thereafter Foxit reader only restores 4 documents. Consequently, I decided to go back Foxit Reader 6.0.7. I hope Developers repair this malfunction soon.

Running as admin doesn't seem to help. It appears antony24 is correct; upon experimentation, Foxit appears to conduct activity exactly the way he described it. I will probably switch to another reader or roll back a version for the time being as it seemed to work fine before but became broken with this newest version. My only issue with going back a version is security issues, if any were implemented for the newer versions. I like to keep up to date on stable versions of software because of this.

          Hi Antony24 and Daigo,

I could also replicate the issue on my side in Foxit Reader 6.1.2 and have reported it to our internal bug tracking system for further investigation. Report ID#: 54352. You may write to [email protected] to track the processing status of this issue.

May I suggest that the title of this topic be renamed to, e.g. "[Bug] 6.1.2.x Only Last Viewed/Activated Tabs Restored by Last Session Restore" ?

You might wanna refresh the registry. That ought to do it.

This bug still exists in the new version 6.1.4.x.

"You cannot exit Foxit Reader without closing all the tabs" mystifies me. Why would it do that? I've never seen that behavior. Also, with the last two versions, I also haven't seen it not restore what I had opened last.

I believe you all when you say there's a bug here, but I'm not sure why I'm seeing different things.

Same problem here. Foxit will only restore tabs which have been seen in the last session. Using last version 6.1.4.0217.
