  • PDFs can not be opend in IE 9 without safety message

    Hi,

    we are using Internet Explorer 9 and Foxit Enterprise Reader 6.0.4.0719
    If we click on a pdf link in the IE9 we get an message "how would you proceed with xyz.pdf file? Open, save or save as...?

    If we click "open" the pdf file is displayed correctly in the browser (the settings in foxit are set correct, too).

    On your local intranet site all pdfs are displayed in the browser without this message.
    With the Adobe Reader all pdfs are displayed without this message.
    With IE 11 and foxit the pdfs are displayed without this message.

    Can someone help us please

    Hi Ropi,

    Please open our Foxit Reader->go under 'File'->'Preferences'->'File Associations'->'Advanced'->to check if you have 'Include browser when setting default PDF viewer' ticked. Thank you.

      Hi cherry,

      this option is ticked. It is very strange, i have one Windows 7 (x64) pc with IE11 and it works fine. On all other PCs with Win7 (x64) and IE11 i get this message. All settings in the IE and in the Foxit are the same.

      EDIT: Problem solved. I have to set an registry key to tell the IE that there should be no message if i try to open a embedded pdf. The regkey for foxit lookls like this:
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell \AttachmentExecute\{0002DF01-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}
      Name (REG_SZ): FoxitReader.FoxitReaderCtl.1
      Value: 0
