  • crash Firefox 12 Beta Crash When Opening PDFs

I have Foxit Reader set to open PDFs in Firefox and it has been working well. Since updating to Firefox 12 beta, Firefox crashes when attempting to open PDFs. I realize that the problem may be with Firefox 12 beta itself but I thought I would let you know about this in case there needs to be a change made to the Foxit Reader Plugin for Mozilla. A screen shot of the error message is here: http://img20.imageshack.us/i/image001mzr.jpg

    I'm using:
    Foxit Reader 5.1.4.0104
Foxit Reader Plugin for Mozilla 2.1.1.720
    Firefox 12 beta 2

I fail to access the image link, would you mind uploading it directly?
BTW, please make sure you have selected "display pdf in browser" under tools->preferences->File Association.
And please run firefox, go to tools->options->application, find PDF document, see which action is selected. (Normally it shall be Foxit Reader plugin, but if Adobe is installed, will be Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)). And go to Tools/Addons/Plugins, be sure Foxit Plugin is enabled.

The image of the error message is attached.

I verified all of the following: "Display PDF in browser" is selected in Foxit Reader, the Firefox action for a PDF file is "Use Foxit Reader Plugin for Mozilla," and the Foxit Reader Plugin for Mozilla is enabled in Firefox Plugins. All of these things were the same prior to upgrading from Firefox 11 to Firefox 12 beta, and Foxit was successfully displaying PDFs in the browser before upgrading. Also, I have never had Acrobat Reader or any other PDF software installed on this PC.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!

The error happens every time when you try to open online file within firefox?May i advise you to uninstall Foxit Reader and firefox then reinstall them by following steps?
1.Please uninstall your current Foxit Reader and Firefox manually.
        2.Please reinstall firefox.
2.Please reinstall Foxit Reader and install firefox plugin and check ""display pdf in browser"" by default.
3.After installing it, please run Foxit Reader to make sure you have selected "display pdf in browser" under tools->preferences->File Association.
4.Please run firefox, go to tools->options->application, find PDF document, see which action is selected. Normally it shall be Foxit Reader plugin. And go to Tools/Addons/Plugins, be sure Foxit Plugin is enabled.

Please let us know if you have any further problems.

I completely uninstalled and reinstalled Foxit Reader and Firefox per your instructions. I then verified all of the settings you specified. However, there is no change in the crashing behavior. It crashes exactly as it did before. Perhaps the current Foxit Reader Plugin for Mozilla is not compatible with Firefox 12 Beta.

Well, i think so.Have you tried other pdf reader(ie, Adobe Reader) to test whether it works or not?Anyway, i will forward this to our QA team for further testing, before doing that, may i know what is the OS and what is the system type?
