Hello, fellow forumers!
I shall say in advance that I have not read through the whole forum... So some of the things that I am about to mention might have been pointed out already, but I still would like to pitch in on some of the things that have been really bothering me since I updated to ver.11 of Foxit PDF Reader.
1) the infamous "format tab": you see, I use text boxes mostly when editing documents. In the older versions (before the latest redesign) I didn't spend as much time on all the clicking through the menus, because the format tab was above the work space (in the ribbon) - so, whenever you activate a text box, the tab activates as well - and you just choose whichever function you need.
Now, since the format tab has been moved and takes a large portion on the side of my screen (my pc at work has a pretty small monitor), I have to close/open it manually every single time I need to edit something, be that alignment/ text type/ size/ colour/ direction whatever... - and it eats up a huge amount of time which could've been spent on editing the document. And as I said, I cannot just keep it open at all times, because I need that space to work with the document. And when you open the format tab, it also messes up your current zoom, and again you have to waste more time zoom in on something... --> would be great to address and fix these issues or at least rename the "format tab" to "frustration tab" (as this is the feeling I've been having while working with it).
side note: my work PC is pretty old, and by old I mean that it is extremely slow. And every time the new "format tab" activates, the pc kind of freezes for an instance. (which makes the whole process of intraction with the new version of Foxit Reader even a bit more unbearable)
One more observation: now the ribbon stays unused/unoperated almost the entire time I edit documents, which results in the following: the beloved "format tab" eats up a bunch of space on the right side of my screen, while the ribbon occupates the top portion of it, thus leaving me with just a bit of space to break my mouse while scrolling or dragging constantly.
2) text boxes shape: this issue has actually been around for a long time now, though is still not fixed. The essence of the issue: when you create a text box, the shape of the box may be altered, but only to some degree. If you use a smaller size of the font (like 5), you will not be able to reduce the dimensions of the box in a way that there is no "white space" left above and below the text. Sometimes the boxes bug out and even if the program seemingly allows you to reduce the box's dimensions, as soon as you drag it, or activate it again, it's gonna restore its "preferred" size.
side note: copying these boxes between different documents when one of the documents was rotated - is another fun past time, because even if you rotate both documents in matching positions, the boxes still will be copied according to the initial rotations of the documents. So they get copied with the wrong rotation.
3) colours (of my life): question: what are the most commonly used colours pretty much anywere? (no, orange is not one of them) - these colours are black and white. Now tell me, why when I create a text box and want to change its borders colour to white (or black), I open the relevant drop-down menu (in my favourite "format tab) and discover that "Theme colours" and "Standard colours" do not have options for completely white (255, 255, 255) or completely black colour (0, 0, 0)? But they do have those "almost completely black" and "almost completely white" colours, which is nice. So, unless the colour is automatically set correctly, I have to click "More colours..." button and set up black or white colour there.
side note: same is applicable to font colour setting
Also, alignment "justify" feature does not always work properly. Meaning that it does not always evenly distributes text within a text box.
Thank you for your attention.
If I miss something (or don't know how to properly set up Foxit Reader) - and there is a solution to all my problems, please let me know.
