  • Bug Why does User Account Control pop up requiring me to allow Foxit Reader to run?

    I just installed Foxit Reader 5.1.4.0104 on my Vista computer. Whenever I run Foxit Reader, Vista's User Account Control pops up ("A program needs your permission to continue") and requests me to allow Foxit Reader to run. I had been using a portable v4.3 Foxit Reader. That did not exhibit this problem. What do I need to do to get Foxit Reader to start without the UAC intervening?

    Hi JohnD,

    1. Please navigate to Foxit Reader installation folder, somewhere like "C:\Program Files\Foxit Software\Foxit Reader", select "Properties" by right clicking on the FoxitReader.exe file;
    2.In the popup window, select Compatibility tab, uncheck "Run this program as an administrator" under the Privilege Level; if it's greyed, click the button "Change settings for all users", uncheck "Run this program as an administrator" under Privilege Level, and then click Ok, Ok to exit the window.
    3. Finally try again. The UAC prompt shall not launch when Foxit Reader starts.

      Thank you Cherry,

      I was unaware of that second level ("all users") of admin privilege. It now works.
