  • Signatures and Stamping

Is there any way, in Foxit Reader (or, perhaps another Foxit product) to:
    • Add a color signature?
    • Add a stamp with dynamic fields that allow user input during the 'add the stamp' process?
    • Add a color signature with dynamic fields that allow user input during the 'add the signature' process?
    • Add a stamp, then "flatten" it so that it acts like a signature in the document?
For a little background - I work for a County that is looking for a tool to stamp building plans as "approved", "not approved", etc. This process sometimes includes stamps that have fields that indicate "more information is needed", and the Building Plans Examiner is expected to fill in what's requested. We're in the process of exploring changing from paper to electronic processes and need a way to stamp PDF building plans in a 'tamper resistant' manner, so we're looking into digital signing. We also need to have 'stamps' that act as digital signatures - i.e. are verifiable and are tamper resistant in the same way a signature is.

    Thanks,
    Steve

    Hi Steve,

    For your questions:
    1) "Add a color signature?"
You may open Reader/PhantomPDF, go under "File"->"Preferences"->"PDF Sign"->uncheck "Convert PDF Sign signature to black and white". Then Reader will maintain the color of the signature.
    2) "Add a stamp with dynamic fields that allow user input during the 'add the stamp' process?"
You may under "Comment"->"Create"->"Create Custom Dynamic Stamp", then there's a section you may type in Stamp Text. Please give it a try and see if it is what you're looking for.
    3) "Add a color signature with dynamic fields that allow user input during the 'add the signature' process?"
    Currently there's no dynamic fields for user to input when adding a color signature. You may use stamp tool as a workaround;
    4) "Add a stamp, then "flatten" it so that it acts like a signature in the document?"
Yes, the "flatten" makes the stamp as part of document info and acts like a signature that can not be deleted. If you want to protect the document from being changed or adding other limitation to your PDF document, you may try the "Add Document Restriction" under "Protect'->"Password Protect" in Foxit PhantomPDF Program. PhantomPDF is free to try out for 30 days, and you may download it from Foxit website: http://www.foxitsoftware.com/downloads/

Thank you for your responses, I'll definitely look into the custom dynamic stamps. Where can I find the flatten function in Reader?

        Hi elegantzero,

"Flatten Pages" is a feature available in Foxit PhantomPDF program. Foxit Reader doesn't have this feature. If to flatten pages in Foxit Reader, you may use this work around: Open the PDF document then print it with Foxit PDF Reader Printer to generate a PDF document with image object only.
