  • Bug Foxit Reader doesn't update; keeps prompting me to close application -.- .

Foxit has a software update recently and I was unable to install it .. Once I downloaded the update file via 'check for updates' , there is a window which keeps prompting me to close Foxit in order for foxit to work.

But how am I suppose to close the software when I updated it from the 'check for updates' function in the software itself ?

    Any help is appreciated.

I ran into the same problem. Not only did I have to close the Foxit Reader, I actually had to close the Foxit Updater application, as well, and the only way to get at that one was to pull up the Task Manager and kill the process. Not the best design I've ever seen! I ended up just removing the Foxit application, hitting the website, downloading the latest version, and installing it. Skip the internal "update" routine entirely.

Yes, I had to end the process using task manager too, but unfortunately, that didn't work too.

I agree, this isn't the best UI for an update process..

I even considered moving on to other PDF readers at that point in time.. Well I may be picky, but sometimes the small stuff adds up.

          Hi all,

We have changed the process of check for update, after you download the package, you only need to close Foxit Reader then you could install it successfully.
