When creating PDF files, you have the option to use layers to help protect your work. If you make a mistake, or need to remove something, you can delete the layer that the offending content exists on without altering any other part of the document.

Printing a PDF file is as simple as clicking on the print button. However like any other type of document there are things that might go wrong when printing a PDF. Luckily, these issues are rather simple to address.

You need to roll back to previous version 6.x that doesn't have this problem.

Yes, this phenomenon happens after V7.0, and our Dev team will try their best to improve it. For now, you can roll back to old version 6.x that does not have this issue, below is the download link:

I just tried it after an update to 7.0.6 and can confirm it does indeed run the parent Foxit window minimized instead of leaving it open on top of other windows. Well, at least from Outlook 2013; my original problem.

    Hi Maximillianx,
This "Foxit reader pops up with the splash screen" while printing issue has been confirmed in Foxit Reader 7.0.3/7.0.5 and Our team has changed the mechanism in Version 7.0.6 so the Foxit Reader window will be minimized during the printing. You may update to version 7.0.6 and give it a try. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Did anything ever come of this? This is very similar to a problem I have; but instead of using Quick Print through MS Office, I am right-clicking the PDF> 'Print' - it does indeed print the PDF, but leaves a blank Foxit instance open.

Version 7.0.3.916, Windows Server 2008 R2 (Terminal Services)

I'll email support as well with the above case number and see if they have anything on it.

    Hi CJ,

Thanks for the description.I could also replicate the issue you mentioned and have reported it to Foxit internal bug tracking system for further investigation. Report ID#: 61288. You may write to [email protected] with this ID# to track the processing status.

Yes, I guess I wasn't very descriptive for someone that doesn't use that feature, sorry.

From an Outlook 2013 open email with a pdf attachment, right click the attachment and select "quick print" (or just "print" in other/older versions of Outlook). Normally this will print the attachment to your default printer without opening the attachment in a traditional Foxit window; that all happens in the background, I assume it's passing through the Foxit API (or something like that). Since the update from 6 to 7 yesterday, I still get a printed copy of the attachment but a Foxit window will open up in front of all other windows. This Foxit window is just a "blank" window in that it doesn't have the printed document displayed, just the normal tool ribbon and main menu as if you had opened Foxit from a desktop icon. I can only assume that something in the new API isn't suppressing the window to keep it hidden and not closing it after the print job has completed.

The open window can be closed and the I can go on about my business but it is annoying when you do this as many times as I do in a day when it wasn't like that before. Not a program breaking issue, just annoying.

Thanks for any help you can give.

    CJ

    Hi CJatWork,

Please help provide a screenshot of the problem and also the instruction about how to replicate the issue so I can perform a test accordingly. Thank you.

started a topic Quick print leaves Foxit open

    Quick print leaves Foxit open

Using 7.0.3.916 on Win7-64 Pro and trying to quick print from Outlook 2013 does send the pdf attachment to the printer but leaves an open Foxit window with a blank work space. Looks like the document closes (hence the blank work space) but not the entire application. Prior to updating Foxit today, this would work perfectly, didn't even see a Foxit window which is how it should be. I haven't updated any other software, only Foxit. Anyone else have this issue? For what it's worth, same thing happens on an older XP machine running Outlook 2007 that was just updated to latest Foxit today.

EDIT: For some odd reason I can no longer post new messages to the forum, I've contacted forum admin and cherry but no replies, maybe this edit will work (it didn't). I tried the 7.0.6 update and can confirm it now works as cherry said, it will not open on top of other windows as it did in it's "broken" condition. It now runs as a single minimized window, no matter how many quick print events are generated. Tested on Win7-64 Pro from Outlook 2013.

cherry, if you see this can you PLEASE fix my account? I even tried to contact you in forum message system.
