Bug The Latest Foxit Reader conflict with Hotmail

I downloaded the new Foxit Reader yesterday morning with the Firefox plug-in enabled. Since then, my Hotmail could not be used, I cannot open/delete/compose anything while in Hotmail. I revert back to the older version 5.1.4.0104 and everything is back to normal.

Does anyone know if Foxit is planning an update to fix this problem?

Any suggestions/comments are much appreciated. Thank you.

PS: Hotmail does work with the new Foxit Reader version while using IE or Chrome, but not Firefox.

Many thanks for your report and Sorry for this inconvenience. The issue"unable to open PDF file from hotmail in firefox browser" has been reproduced in Firefox. I will forward this issue to our developer team for further processing.

Currently, please try other browser like IE to open your hotmail message or try to disable firefox plugin in your fiefox browser before you open PDF file in hotmail.
To disable firefox plugin ,please go to "Tools"menu in firefox borwser>"Add-ons">"Plugins">please disable "foxit reader plugin for Mozilla" there.

It's NOT that I couldn't open any PDF file from Hotmail, the problem is I COULD NOT open/delete/compose any EMAILS in Hotmail, which has NOTHING to do with any PDF files. So when I found out the conflict, I was very surprised and wondered what does Foxit Reader has to do with Hotmail email servers? Again, it's NOT the PDF files in Hotmail that caused the problem, it's the EMAILS themselves that users cannot open/delete/compose. I reverted back to the previous version of Foxit Reader and everything is back to normal. I do not want to disable the Firefox plugin as I need it to view other PDF files in other sites.

I have the same problem. Here is the ticket I opened.
After updating to the latest version of Reader I have lost all functionality in
Hotmail using Firefox. After signing in to Hotmail I am immediatly unable to
select anything. A complete freeze-out. However I can still access the Windows
Live links on the Hotmail page such as Skydrive.
This has nothing to do with using your product to view PDF's.
Access to Hotmail from IE is unaffected.
Additionally, Foxit Reader is preventing Windows Live Mail from remembering my
password. When I forward a Firefox web page to someone with right-click and
"send to" Windows Live Mail opens but forgets my password from previous
sessions.
I run a fully updated OS and all programs, add-ons, and extensions are checked
for updates daily.
Uninstalling Foxit Reader fixes these problems.
I have duplicated this on other Win 7 OS's. They worked fine before the latest
update, and reproduce these problems after the update, which then go away again
upon Foxit's removal.

I've had this issue today. Took 3 hours to realise Foxit Plug in was to blame and then fix.
Actually the issue is with the plug in that is/was installed with new Foxit 5.140104 which is plug in 2.2 or something like that.
To fix it I reinstalled Foxit Reader (still 5.140104) without adding the plug in, then after installing added the plug in 2.1.1.720 which is the default download off the website currently.
Possibly even if I had installed it today with the plug in Foxit may have removed the 2.2 plug in ensuring compatibility; either way the newest Foxit reader 5.140104 with plug in 2.1.1.720 sorts out the issue with Hotmail

Serious problem, need to let users know

This is a pretty serious problem. There are a very large number of Firefox/Hotmail users and this bug causes a silent failure; there is nothing that points the user at the Foxit plugin so you can only get hotmail working by trial and error (and now sometimes you can get the answer via Google). If you have any way to alert Foxit users to this bug, you should really do so...I just spent an hour figuring out why my wife couldn't access her hotmail.

There is a transitional solution to correct this issue: after uninstalling to revert back to the previous version which can be downloaded here:

When trying to open either of two Hotmail accounts in Firefox 13.01 (the problem started in Firefox 11.x) a popup message box entitled "Foxit Reader" stating: "Format error: not a PDF or corrupted" appears atop the Hotmail inbox. It freezes all functionality of Firefox because as soon as it is dismissed with OK or the corner X, it immediately reappears. The only way out is to force close Firefox! More intimidating is the fact that using Windows Task Manager to force close Foxit Reader.exe does not work, as it immediately restarts![ In fact is is extremely difficult to even close the Firefox window. This is
Foxit Reader 5.3.0.423. Interesting point is when that version of Foxit Reader was installed using "Install Updates" from within the program, it did not write over the existing Start Menu shortcut, which still reads as Foxit Reader 5.1 but opens the newer version. Previous threads on this popup problem have been noted and they're over a month or longer old! This is making me lose all faith in Foxit Reader which I've promoted as the better/safer replacement for Adobe!
