  • Bug Foxit Reader 5.3 bookmark links don't work

Hi, I have some documentation with Start Page and navigation from there. The bookmarks links don't work in version 5.3, but work in Foxit 5.1.
Unfortunately I can't attach the files, cause the upload limit.

      Hello,
In my case bookmarks in navigation pane (Bookmarks) do not work at all. Selecting any bookmark returns me to the top of page 1. As an example see http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/spru578c/spru578c.pdf. Acrobat navigates fine.

        Hi rrlagic,

The document can be navigated fine from Bookmark panel. Please open your Foxit Reader->go to 'Tools'->'Preferences'->'General'->make sure 'Create links from URLs' has been selected.
If the option makes no difference, please re-install Foxit Reader then give one more try. Please let us know the result.

No luck with 5.3. The I tried to uninstall/install again. As you might know, Foxit site offers to download version 5.1. And it works fine.

I had no such trouble on several PCs. I noticed it on one just few days ago, but I don't remember clearly if it was related to update.

No, it does not. Version 5.3.1.0606 does not work correctly with bookmarks.

Then I uninstalled 5.3.1.0606 and reinstalled 5.1.4.0104 again. Version 5.1.4.0104 works just fine.

                  Hi PNF,

What is the action of the bookmark in the PDF document? Can we get a copy for testing only?

I opened a PDF which had links that were seen by Adobe Acrobat but that Foxit Reader (FR) did not recognize. It gave no signs that there were links there (the hand icon did not change to a pointing finger). FR did recognize links in some other PDF's though. I was thinking of just creating them myself so I opened Edit/Links and clicked on Rectangle Link. At that point black boxes displayed where the unrecognized links were. I clicked on the hand to go back to normal and FR now sees the links, and they work as they should. FR now also sees links in other PDF's that it formally did not see. I rebooted, reopened the PDf, and FR still sees the links so all is good. (FR v5.3.1.0606 – Win 7 Pro)

Update: A couple of days later I downloaded a new PDF with links and and FR did not recognize (see) its links. I again opened Edit/Links and clicked on Rectangle Link. That fixed it again.
Here is a link to the PDf if you want it for testing: http://download.jw.org/files/media_books/yp2_E.pdf
