  • Foxit Reader and separate cover page setting

    Hello,
in the latest version of Foxit Reader 6.1.5.0624 (Italian) when i flag under VIEW settings -> Page Display the option "Separate Cover Page" i'm able to do the trick but if i open another PDF file Foxit doesn't remember such an option.
If i open the PDF files where i ticked this option it remembers the view display mode properly.

Is it as per design ? If so, why under Hystory settings there is the voice (ticked by default) "Restore last view settings when reopening" ?

    Many thanks!

    Hi cybermat,

The "Separate Cover Page" setting can only be remembered if you set "Continuous-Facing" under "File"->"Preferences"->"Page Display"->"Default Page layout" and check "Restore last view settings when reopening" under "File"->"Preferences"->"History". Only when you open the PDF documents and tick the "Separate Cover Page" can the PDF documents be opened with "Separate Cover Page" on. "Restore last view settings when reopening" is meant to remember the page and settings you exit Foxit Reader last time.

Why can't it just remember the setting?

As it is, every single book or magazine you ever open has a broken layout due to the cover not being shown separately. I don't want to use Continuous-Facing mode and all the other workarounds, I just want the button to stay enabled - that's why I enabled it.

Since version 9.0, we've added an option "Override Page Display" under "File">"Preferences">"Accessibility">"Override Page Display" so we could force page layout/zoom level as desired. However, there are four page layout style there: Single Page, Continuous, Facing and Continuous Facing. In this case, I've sumbitted your feedback as suggestion so our Product team could consider to add one more option "Separate Cover Page" to it so you could open any documents with Separate Cover Page as default. Internal Suggestion ID#: PHANTOM-17115. Thank you.
