  • Feature 5.3.0.0423 - slow to start while loading fonts?

Got the new version recently and now sometimes when I load a document, it seems to take 10 seconds or so "loading fonts". Closing and opening the same file is instant. Trying other files is then instant. Later on, it seems to go slow again, "loading fonts".

Marked thread as "Feature" because I don't know if it's a bug or not. Just thought you might like to know.

Win7 64 Home premium. Standalone (I do not have the browser plugins enabled).

Hello Richell, i downloaded the last trial of Business edition and still had this problem today.
Sometimes it takes 1-2- minutes to open a pdf, and I'm still evaluating if buy it or not.
          Any Help?

                Hi Dr. Emel,

The 'Loading fonts' problem has been fixed in the internal version of Foxit Reader. The next release Foxit Reader 5.3.1 will no longer have this problem.

                    Hello.

Because of this problem (some pdf's take far more than 10sec to open) i've decided to register here. I've been using Foxit for some years now and never saw any reason to change. Hope you will fix it soon because this is a no go.

                    Best regards.

All was fine with me after I installed Foxit Reader 5.3.0, no waiting at "loading fonts". But when I installed Adobe Indesign (latest) this problem started happening and it's still coming up whenever I open any pdf in foxit.

I have the same problem in version 9.3. It takes longer than 40 seconds to open a document. Foxit Reader reads all files from folder C:\Windows\Fonts. I have Windows 7 64bit, 4 GHz Intel i7 and fast SSD. Why do I have to wait 40 seconds to view 1 MB PDF ? It happens only when opening the first document when fonts are not yet cached in memory.
