  • Foxit Reader Update destroys all my settings

I just made an update to my Foxit Reader (which is a great and useful tool) and
afterwards all my settings were destroyed again - again 30 minutes unnecessary work to repair it !

I couldnt find a registry entry or ini-file to save these settings. In every other software i know, updates respect the existent settings - why not Foxit ???

Hope to get a useful answer.

    Hi Kuberg,

Sorry for the problem. I've forwarded your comments to Reader PM team for processing references. Feedback ID#: READER-360.

For your current workaround, you may export the registry of your Foxit Reader before the update.
Go to "Start"->"Run"-> input regedit -> find "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Foxit Software\Foxit Reader" and export the whole folder. Then after the update, import it back.

      Hello, just a small request.
Can you please make an option for updater: don't make desktop shortcut and don't make quick launch shortcut.
This is quite annoying. Please respect my privacy - let me decide what goes to the desktop myself.
Everything else is perfect, I like your program very much, at least better than Adobe! Faster and nice looking.

      Thank you, good luck!

It is optional, when you install Foxit Reader, you can uncheck these items so it won't disappear on your desktop or quick launch bar, see attached screenshot.
Note:the screenshot is for V6, which is also the same as V7.

I have the same issue. It's ridiculous that I lose my preferences when doing a minor update from 7.0.3 to 7.0.6.

            Hi brettdog,

I've updated your comments to PM team for processing. For current workaround, please export the registry before you perform the update, then import it back after the update.
