  • PDF file corrupt, how to repair it?

    Hi,

I downloaded .pdf file from Internet and it displays perfectly in the browser.

However, if I save the PDF file to their computer, the downloaded file becomes corrupt. The PDF file is always some KB, but very important to me.

The error message when I'm opening the downloaded PDF: error at opening document. and file is damaged

Thanks for any help you can give!

    1) Which version of Foxit Reader do you use? The current release is 7.1.3, may i advise you to upgrade to the new one and have a try if you are using old version?
2)How did you save the file to your local disk? You should click the Save button on the Foxit toolbar within browser.

See follow short guide for restoring .pdf files...

          1. Navigate to the location with the corrupted PDF file. Right-click on it and select "Rename." Type any other file name and hit "Enter." Sometimes, a simple rename can troubleshoot corrupt PDFs.
          2. Make sure your Adobe Reader is in working condition. Open any other PDF files on your hard drive to make sure the problem is not originating from your Adobe Reader. If it does, reinstall Reader from Adobe's website for free (see Resources).
3.Update Adobe Reader. Launch Adobe Reader from the Start menu under "All Programs." Click on the "Help" tab and select "Check for Updates..." Follow the on-screen prompts to complete installing the updates. Try re-opening the PDF file.
          4. Use an external software to fix the PDF file. PDF Repair Toolbox http://www.pdf.repairtoolbox.com/
          5. Launch the program of your choice (from last step) once you have downloaded and installed it on your computer. Browse to navigate to the corrupt PDF by clicking on "Open" or "Browse" (depending on the program). Double-click on the corrupt PDF file once you have located it. Click "Start" to fix the corrupt PDF file. You will asked to select a location on your hard drive to save the fixed copy of the PDF.

Sorry for the problem. I suspect it might be a caching problem. When the document was transferred via SSL, it was prevented caching due to the
Internet settings. Please try to uncheck 'Do not save encrypted pages to disk' in'Internet Options'. (Open IE->go to 'Tools'->'Advanced'->find
'Security' from the list-> uncheck 'Do not save encrypted pages to disk').
And please also help to make sure you have downloaded the whole PDF document completely before try to open it.
