  • crash Chrome. FoxitReaderOCX.ocx failed to load. Sept 10, 2012 update 5.4.2.0901

I received an upgrade notice to FoxItReader Pro today (Sept 10, 2012) and proceeded to install the update. After updating, when clicking on a link to a PDF file on a web page, I get the error message "FoxItReaderOCX.oxc failed to load. I have tried the fix suggested in the Technical FAQ here and tried running Foxitpro as Admin. This did not help. I then tried fix #2 which was to Start > Run > Open "regsvr32.exe "C:\Program Files\Foxit Software\Foxit Reader\plugins\FoxitReaderOCX.ocx" however I don't have a file by that name in the plugins folder (Windows 7, so my install folder is Program Files (x86) ).

There is this related discussion at previous thread suggesting similar fixes.

Could it be the update installation is missing the file FoxitProReaderOCX.ocx?

My work around is to download the PDFs and open to view in the FoxItReader window instead of in Chrome browser.

    thanks,
    Tony

I suspect you did not install firefox plugin completely or did not check "display pdf in browser" so you failed to open it.May i advise you to follow my instructions to reinstall it?
1.Please uninstall your current version manually.
2.Please reinstall Foxit Reader 5.4.2 and install firefox plugin and check ""display pdf in browser"" by default.
3.After installing it, please run Foxit Reader to make sure you have selected "display pdf in browser" under Edit->preferences->File Association.
4.Please run Chrome ->about->plugins->disable plugins of other pdf reader(for example, adobe reader plugin) and enable Foxit Reader plugin for Mozilla2.2.1.0530
