  • Feedback Why are Foxit Readers keyboard shortcuts so different?

I just registered a new account to ask this question. I find it mightily annoying that Foxit Reader has the following mapping for shortcut keys:

    Left arrow - Prev Page
    Right arrow - Next page
    End - Last Page

By default most of the apps we are familiar with use Page up, Page Down and Ctrl End.

I find this so annoying. Is there a way I can customize the keyboard shortcuts? I am not able to find this in the Preferences Menu option either.

[[As a software developer one of the first rules I've been taught is not to force the User to change a practice for the sake of change(especially when there is a Page Up/Down key staring at you from every keyboard)]]

Left/Right arrow key not working issue has been forwarded to our PM team for reference, hope it will be brought back in next release.
Regarding Home/End key, we change it to Ctrl+Home and Ctrl+End.

I do hope the Left / Right arrow for going back / forward between pages is fixed - in fact I logged in just to check on the status of this. Contra OP, this has been the expected behaviour of Windows PDF readers for the past 20 odd years I've been using them.

So, any news on this? I registered here to report that my left/right arrow keys weren't working, and to ask what I was doing wrong. Why has this feature been removed? :O

We will bring it back in future release, for now, you can hit Enter to replace F3 to go to Next search result.

I'm also looking forward to seeing this feature back. I also find it incredibly annoying to see LEFT/RIGHT ARROW replaced by CTRL-PGDOWN.
I guess the Product Manager tried to clone Microsoft Word shortcuts, but there was no reason to disable left/right arrow. This has been working for several years; no reason to break it.

                Dear guiambros,
The Lef/Right arrow shortcut key will be expected to be added back too in our next major release version of foxit reader--Foxit Reader 6.0.

Fast solution other than waiting for 6.x version: download 5.3.1.0606
                    Hope that could be helpful

PS: Awesome job with your software foxit team
