Bug DEP activated when Foxit reader closed, not allowed to deactivate DEP for Foxit reade

When I close Foxit Reader 5.1 I get a DEP window for Foxit. When I try and change my DEP settings to not activate with Foxit, Vista pops up a window that says "This program must run with data execution protection (DEP) enabled. You cannot turn off DEP for this program."

What is the reader doing to cause this to happen and is there any way to change the setting on the reader to either stop the DEP or allow me to disable the DEP for Foxit reader. The happens about 95% of the time.

Go to 'Control Panel'-> double-click on 'System'->click on 'System protection' in the left of the System window->Click on 'Advanced'->click on 'Setttings' in 'Performance' section->'Data Execution Prevention' then add 'Foxit Reader' to your exception list.

Uhhh...wait a minute...DEP is a GOOD thing, and should not be turned off for modern well designed programs. With all due respect for Foxit, a program of which I have grown quite fond, I'll turn off Foxit before I turn off DEP. Isn't DEP simply an excellent way for an operating system (e.g. Windows) to ensure that an application (e.g. Foxit) does not execute potentially malicious code fed to it (e.g. a malicious PDF?). I like the fact that my Windows/BIOS DEP team is protecting me.

So the question raised earlier is valid - why exactly can't this be fixed from Foxit's end? What changed to cause this?

For the record, I also the same issue with Windows XP SP3.

I'm having the same issue with Vista 32-bit. I have tried creating a DEP exception, but get the same message: "This program must run with data execution protection (DEP) enabled. You cannot turn off DEP for this program."

I have also tried running Foxit in XP compatibility mode, with the same result.

Can anyone help resolve this? i don't want to have to go back to the bloated alternative....

Hello, I have the same exact problem for about 2 months now.
This brings the usage of foxit reader so frustrating (2 DEP dialog boxes each time) that I have to use adobe reader for the time being which is also very painful.

Any news about this bug?

Hi. I have exactly the same problem, I'm using Vista 32 bit and Foxit Reader 5.1.4. I tried using File, Close before exiting the programme but that didn't help. Opening and closing the same file a number of times it seems that the fault is random, I can't predict when it will happen and when it won't but when it does I have 3 pop-ups to close, I close the foxitreader.exe has stopped working one, then Vista's DEP bubble on the toolbar and then the foxitreader.exe has stopped working reappears. Thanks for an otherwise great product, but I hope you can sort this one out soon.
