Hi Everyone,
I've been working on this myself for a couple of days and I'm stumped. The Foxit Reader will not open PDF files with in my browser (FF) on a new tab. Instead the PDf file gets opened up separately in the Foxit Reader program itself.
I'm Running XP Pro SP3, Avast 7.0.1474 Free, Spyboy Search & Destroy 2.0.12.0 with update 2.0.12.89
Running Foxit Reader Free, Foxit version 5.4.4.1128, Display PDF in Browser is checked.
I have several add-ons, but the one that is most relevant I have is Adobe Reader 11.
This all happened after I updated my plugins including AR 11. I don't use AR at all but updated flash and shockwave.
I read around online and tried several things:
I disabled the Adobe Reader directly in the add-ons and by uninstalling the plugins - the file was in 4 places which I disabled in each location
I re-installed Foxit Reader
I installed the Foxit Firefox Reader Plugin (firefox_plugin_reader_2.2.1.530.fzip ) directly into Foxit by downloading it from the website and manually installing it
I set the Adobe PDF Documents Application settings in Firefox are set to Foxit Reader 5.4
I checked the addons status using the about:addons command in the FF url
I uninstalled the Foxit Firefox Reader Plugin and re-installed it (using this link: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/...lling_a_plugin)
I also re-initialized the plugins database per the above link
I went back and completely uninstalled Foxit Reader using Revo Uninstaller to completely remove 'residual' components (of which there were 2K+). I did not reboot my PC.
Reinstalled Foxit Reader and still have the same problem.
The addons:config shows Foxit Firefox Reader Plugin as installed (in two locations) and shows as enabled on the plugins page in add ons. When I go to set the Actions under the Applications tab in Options in FF, Foxit Firefox Reader Plugin isn't listed as an option and doesn't show. I can choose Foxit Reader 5.4 or 4.3, which seems strange.
Again if anyone can shed some light on how to fix this I'd appreciate it.
Regards, Tony B.
