Enterprise page seems to be broken - doesnt keep keep login info so I can't download, when I try to re-register I get an error message

Foxit Reader's slow printing issue is a very old and long standing problem.

The slow printing has been a problem ever since the 4.0 versions of Foxit Reader. If the development team hasn't fixed this problem by now, I doubt it's ever going to get fixed. Personally, I prefer to use Foxit Reader exclusively, but I can't because the print jobs take forever to print. So, I usually use Foxit Reader to highlight and mark up a document and then I use Adobe Reader X to print it.

Currently, I'm using Foxit Reader 5.4.5.0114. Just like every other version I've used before, this version takes forever and a day to print a simple one page document. Case in point, one page from a website that I saved to a pdf file today via CutePDF Writer takes 1:18 min/sec to print. It only took Adobe Reader X 10 seconds to print the same 1 page PDF document.

I've got an HP 6P LaserJet printer (1997) with 18 MB of memory. It's Properties on the Advanced tab are set to "Spool print documents so program finishes printing faster" and "Start printing immediately". Again, even though this is an old printer and my computer system specs are as recent as 2008 (cpu, memory, etc.), it takes Adobe Reader X 10 seconds to print a one page PDF document that takes Foxit Reader 1:18 min/sec to print.

I could be wrong, but what think is the problem is Foxit Reader's "Print text as graphic (ignore font substitution)" option. This option is is located via the menu Edit > Preferences > General > Printer section of the dialog box. Adobe Reader X has a similar preference option called "Print as image". This Adobe Reader preference option is located via the menu File > Print > Advanced button > Advanced Print Setup dialog box close to the bottom.

Every time I have Adobe Reader's "Print as image" option selected, a document prints very fast. If I don't have that Adobe Reader print option selected, a document prints very slow. Case in point, it took 2:10 min/sec for Adobe Reader X to print the same PDF document it printed earlier in 10 seconds.

In short, I believe Foxit Reader's "Print text as graphic (ignore font substitution)" option just doesn't work if it's supposed to be the same kind of option as Adobe Reader X's "Print as image" option to speed up a print job. If this Foxit Reader print option isn't supposed to be the same thing as Adobe Reader X's print option, then Foxit Reader needs a "Print as image" print option. When Foxit Reader is free and has so much more functionality than Adobe Reader, it's just stupid to hinder the product by not having that kind of printing option.

You mentioned the "resulting file size of 215k", may I know if it was meant the spooler file?

It's related to file size. Sumatra PDF will print with a resulting file size of 215k; Foxit Reader Enterprise 5.5.0.1227 over 3Gb. It's not usuable, so we downgraded.

We use the new Foxit Reader Enterprise 5.5.0.1227 in ur company. the printing is very very slow, the printing status bar need much more time as the version before (5.4). Foxit Reader is running on Windows XP OS and with kyocery printer drivers in a windows 2003 domain.

any idea to solve this ? because if not, we will go back to version 5.4 in our company.
