  • Bug Find keyboard shortcut NOT focusing on search box (CTRL+F)

With latest current version 5.4.x the Standard 'Find' keyboard binding CTRL+F does not bring focus to the search entry box.

This means that when one has a PDF open and pressing CTRL+F One gets the Find Tab from ribbon open, but one has to separately move the mouse cursor over the Find text entry field and click it. Only after that can one start searching.

This is changed from earlier Foxit versions, different from how Adobe Reader or Sumatra (or just about any other Windows program works).

Please fix this, as it makes searching through multiple documents with keyboard quite cumbersome.

    Hi vasrassi,

The issue you mentioned doesn't exist on our side. Could you please try to perform a re-installation of Foxit Reader and give one more try? Please let us know if the re-installation helps.

I have tried that. Does not help. My version is v5.4.5.0124. My system is Windows 8 Pro with all updates. I'm using it in normal desktop (non-Metro) mode.

The same version works ok under my Windows 7 64-bit installation on my laptop, but the focus is NOT set to the text entry field on Windows 8 installation, when CTRL+F is pressed.

        Any updates on this?

The bug is there. Please try on Windows 8 Pro (non-metro UI).

Also, you have removed the keyboard controls for quitting the software (ALT+F - X).

Will you be updating this, or do keyboard workflow users have to move back to Adobe software (sigh)?

It should work fine with our next release 6.0, and the keyboard for quitting the software is CTRL+Q in 6.0.
